Can you guess our topic for this new entry?

YES!   IRREGULAR VERBS…..!

How do you feel about irregular verbs?

Come on. It’s not that bad!

OK, OK!  DON’T PANIC!

It’s not that terrible.  We are going to help you with it.

First of all CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE!

Here are some ideas to help you learn them more easily.

You can find a lot of games and activities, for example, the game you find in The Big Challenge:

http://verbs.thebigchallenge.com/

There are many interesting pages to practise, like:

http://elblogdelingles.blogspot.com.es/2014/05/11-maneras-muy-efectivas-de-aprenderse.

So, don’t be afraid and just…

To finish we want to include here the lists of irregular verbs we use in class, in case you need a copy for the next test…

You can start practising with the list for next year!

KEEP WORKING AT IT!

It’s a CHALLENGE!

This month we want to talk about READING.

An important activity to learn anything, to learn any language, and therefore, to learn English is READING!

In order to help you READ more, this year the school is buying magazines, so you can borrow graded issues and learn while you enjoy READING them.

Some students are writing reviews of the magazines they READ. These 1st ESO students want to share their work so you have some examples of excellent commentaries.

We hope you find them helpful.

Go ahead and READ a lot!

Hello again! This month we want to tell you about the international contest The Big Challenge.

big_challenge

The Big Challenge started in a French high school in 1999, and it was so successful that more countries wanted to participate:

2005 Germany, 2007 Spain, 2012 Austria, 2013 Sweden, 2016 Poland and Holland.  More tan 600.000 high school students participate each year.

Many of you participated last year and the school results were really good.

We hope this year even more people join so you learn and enjoy it a lot!

Remember that everyone is a winner in this contest.  You all get a Diploma, a poster, and other gifts.

It is important to train for it. We sometimes practice in class, but you can do it at home too,

just type THE BIG CHALLENGE and play any of the games as many times as you wish.

This year you have got three games.  Try them all!

This year we want to include in the school magazine some articles to help you learn English.

You all know that in many countries around the world people speak English.

There are 54 countries! Here you can see them on a map.

map

There is a great variety of accents, but the two main ones are British English and American English.

london

In Spain we traditionally learn British English and that is what our textbooks use.

However, nowadays more and more people are using American English, so we often work with both options.

Are you ready to learn a lot this year?

Then, don’t forget to check the articles in the school magazine each month!
